The Wonderboom Nature Reserve north of Pretoria is home to the famous Wonderboom ("Miracle Tree"). Believed to be over 1000 years old, this fig tree is about 50 metres in diametre and has a total of 13 mother and daughter tree trunks.

The Wonderboom Nature Reserve is also home to the ruins of Fort Wonderboom, a man-made waterfall and Iron-Age and Stone-Age archeological sites.

Visitors can also view a variety of wildlife and birdlife within the reserve.
